Faith and flaming arrows

As a wall of fire reported to be 60 feet high and moving at 90 kilometres an hour bore down from the Mallacoota wharf, where thousands of people huddled for safety, David Jeffery used his faith.  Literally.

Jeffery, the owner of the Wave Oasis B&B in Mallacoota, and two older “prayer warriors” (along with many others around the nation) were praying.

“I prayed, ‘Lord if you don’t push this [fire] back now, we need [wind] from the east.’ As soon as I said that, it started blowing from the east a little bit. Then I got louder and [the wind] got stronger. Then I got louder again and it got stronger again …

“I felt it change. I noticed that the bolder I got, the stronger [the wind got]. I was yelling, ‘In Jesus’ name, thank you Lord for rescuing these souls. Push it back Lord, rescue us!’

“It was desperation personified. I did not care who heard me. I knew then that God was then doing what I was asking. Because if he didn’t answer then, we were dead.”

Noting that no easterly was forecast, Jeffery continues: “What God did was push [the fire] back from the east, which was impossible but he did it. He did that for five minutes, which broke [the fire front] enough to stop it from getting to where we were.”

Jeffrey’s faith acted as a shield for himself and the other people trapped on the beach.

There’s a verse about faith being a shield: “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16

This verse is from a passage in Ephesians that tells believers who they’re fighting and what to do.  I’ll put the passage at the end of this post.

This photo shows what the struggle is against.

“A dairy farmer who spent 13 hours defending his property from a fire that spat out 100m large fireballs has pleaded with the PM to not let any more people die.”

“It hit us like four or five times, the chopper pilots are heroes, they saved it (the property) … I’m very glad people did not get killed here. We’ve got a photo a friend took and I’m not into hooky pooky stuff but there was a big devil face in it.”

“We have a belief there’s political zeitgeist behind this,” said former Australian leader Barnaby Joyce, citing the ways the forests had been neglected.

Zeitgeist means “the spirit of the age.”  I’ll write more about the spirit of the age in a separate post.  Our struggle is not against people.  It’s against the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil.

Just laws based on the ten commandments act as a protective hedge around a country.  When these laws are changed in favour of the sustainable goals of Agenda 2030, it will leave the country open to attack.  I believe we’ll see an increase in open spiritual warfare.  A Christian’s job is not to be a social justice warrior but to stand in the gap for their land and pray.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Blind belief, the faith that kills

A British woman was interviewed after the latest Muslim attack in London that left seven dead and nearly fifty injured.  Her son got a knife stuck in him, with the words “this is for Islam!”  She said, “These people saying they’re doing it in the name of God is an absolute joke. The first commandment is “Thou shalt not kill, all faiths share that belief …”

Do they?

Actually, she is wrong about all faiths sharing the belief “You shall not kill.”  This is the trouble, many Westerners believe that Islam has that principle, or “the Golden Rule,” or the rule of conscience.  No.  In Islam, these are supplanted by Sharia law which is cast from the actions and words of Mohammed.

The reason they attack is because their holy book commands it!

Through Noah came the Noahide law, and through Moses the ten commandments.  Both  men from the Bible are regarded as prophets in the Quran. But Muslims regard Mohammed and  Sharia law as greater!

It’s true that God in the Old testament commanded killing, but it was a specific instance where the Israelites had to clear the giants out of Canaan, and those aligned with them.  There was a genetic problem, where Goliath’s brother had hands with six fingers and King Og of Bashan was 14 feet tall.  And a behavioural problem where the Canaanites did abominable things which God detested.

Nowhere else does God command indiscriminate killing.  Jesus, at his arrest, told his disciple to out down his sword, saying “those who live by the sword will die by the sword.”  Was he thinking of Mohammed’s arrival 600 years later when he said it?

It is true that most Muslims aren’t terrorists – but most terrorists are Muslims.    Islam also permits Taqiyya and Kitman, where Muslims can lie to us about their religion being “a religion of peace.”  Another law of theirs which is the opposite of ours, where we are told not to bear false witness.

The media and the politicians must know what’s in the Quran.  It’s their job to know what’s going on.  But they’re still censoring us by calling this “a terrorist attack.”  Why aren’t people allowed to use the ‘M’ word?
