Covid-19, the economic pain to come

As a small business we’re trying to navigate our way through the Covid-19 shut-down.  Being an essential service (Information Technology) we’re trading under extremely limited circumstances.  We may survive, but it’s impossible to do any forecasting right now and I have no confidence in the government.

I’m questioning this so-called pandemic and the government’s actions, or inactions.

On the 25th March, NZ went to level 4 lock down.  We only had two days to prepare for it.

Was this whole thing necessary?  Does it fit the definition of a pandemic?  How is it different from a Sars outbreak?

“How bad is this?  How evil is this one?” asks Duncan Garner, TV news presenter for Newshub.

“It’s not the most evil that we’ve had. Sars and Mers coronaviruses were more severe. They killed, were set up to kill a lot more people …” replied Doctor Petousis-Harris.

Doctor Helen Petousis-Harris is the director of the WHO’s Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety, as well as an Associate Professor at Auckland University.

If Sars and Mers were worse, why was New Zealand shut down over this coronavirus, which most people recover from?

I don’t understand why our small South Pacific nation went to a level 4 lock-down when we’ve only had 19 deaths – all over 70 and all with pre-existing conditions.

Another thing I don’t understand – why did Jacinda give priority to the extreme abortion law in the midst of the so-called Coronavirus pandemic?  It doesn’t make sense.

Why wasn’t the government paying attention to the looming “medical crises” instead?  I have yet to hear the media ask this question.

It even turns out the Government was formally told by Dr Ashley Bloomfield, the Director General of Health, to completely close the borders in February.  When they finally closed the door, the virus had walked in and spread.

Why was he ignored?  Are there other nefarious and unreported agendas at work that we’re not aware of?

If this draconian level 4 lock down isn’t justified, then Adern is guilty of crashing the economy and she should be held accountable.

An article today said “Jacinda Ardern is sued over coronavirus lockdown and is accused of imposing strict measures in New Zealand ‘for her political gain.’

I don’t like their chances of successfully suing her.

Unfortunately the voting booth is the only choice we have and even then it’s a poor choice.  The contenders are globalists who either serve the UN or China.  We don’t have a true political choice or a voice in the media.  If Jacinda is voted out she’ll be off to a glittering career at the UN – just like socialist Helen Clark, her mentor and predecessor.

There’s an interesting article by Sir Bob Jones that is critical of Jacinda’s inept handling of this crisis.  Jones said, “Contrary to the Jacinda-obssessed non-critical media, New Zealand hasn’t done very well.  We’ve wrongly followed overseas practices to the letter.  We need not have gone that far and the economic cost will be enormous.”

Document Dump, 10th May 2020

The government proactively dumped hundreds of documents late on Friday 8th May, and in an email obtained by RNZ, the prime minister’s office gagged her ministers by telling them not to do interviews.

In a 20 March document, top health officials recommended New Zealand move to alert level 2, and remain there for up to 30 days.  But just three days later, the government moved to level 3, and in another two days went to level 4.

Also, Adern wanted New Zealand to be on alert level 2-3 for two years!

I would like to know

  • why Jacinda Adern imposed a gag order after the document dump,
  • why she took New Zealand to lock down level 4 when she was told to go to level 2
  • why she ignored Dr Ashley Bloomfield, the Director General of Health, when he told her to completely close the borders in February
  • and why she wanted New Zealand to be on alert level 2-3 for two years!

  1. jo,
We copied the UK which has 70 million people, different circumstances to us. We are more spread out and more suburban.
Severe measures have put paid to our economy.
Jacinda is not very bright, just the bright smile.

    1. Jacinda is a mouthpiece for the UN and the globalist cabal. While charming, and a useful fool, I agree with you that she is not very bright. When we started our business in 2006, we did a SWOT analysis. The T (external threats) was govenment stupidity. I never thought I’d see a threat of this size or stupidity of this magnitude.

      1. Jo,
This bunch of fools has taken our livelihoods away in one swoop.
A friend in Sydney says she was shopping in the DAVID Jones store, the cafes were open for takeaways, Bunnings was open,so were butchers and greengrocers.
Scott Morrison says they are doing better than NZ though this was challenged in Saturday’s Herald.

  2. Jo,
Like you I am incredulous Oz only went to Level 3.
This only came home to me when talking to a Sydney friend on FaceTime and she said she had been into David Jones buying a few things.
    I thought Whaaaaaaat?

  3. Jo I forwarded on the Mike Hosking minute and wow did I get some blowback
I’m still reeling. He is only saying what is; empty beds in hospitals etc.
People can’t see it, but small businesses can and there is the difference.
People still getting paid won’t notice it, but when your business goes you will.

    1. They’re upset hearing the truth because it’s not the virus out of control – it’s the government. You are right about them noticing it when there’s no work.
